Whether they’re taking on leading roles in new Netflix shows or starring on the big screen in the latest blockbuster, the men and women of Hollywood are more often than not drop-dead gorgeous. But which movie stars have stolen the UK and USA’s hearts and can be crowned the most fancied in 2024?

To find out, the experts at online slots site Spin Genie UK have dived into Google search data from over the last 12 months to see which solo artists, bands and band members top the charts for searches such as “hot”, “sexy,” and “calendar”.

The UK's most fancied female movie stars

1. Emma Watson - 173,680 annual UK searches

Emma Watson, most known for her iconic role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, ranks as the UK's most fancied female actor. Born in Paris, France, but raised in England from age 5, Watson honed her acting skills at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. After her breakthrough role in Harry Potter, Watson has played roles in the period drama Little Women, The Bling Ring thriller, and Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and The Beast.

2. Hannah Waddingham - 96,330 annual UK searches

London-born Hannah Waddingham finds herself as the second most fancied female actor in the UK. Best known for her contributions to West End musical theatre, Hannah has also played minor roles in film and TV throughout her early career. It wasn’t until 2020, however, when Waddingham gained international acclaim for her portrayal of Rebecca Welton in the comedy series Ted Lasso. For this role, Waddingham won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2021 Critics Choice Awards. Waddingham also played a role in the successful Sex Education series.

3. Hayley Atwell - 94,200 annual UK searches

Hayley Atwell is the UK’s third most fancied female actor, receiving 94,000 hot and sexy searches over the last year. Atwell rose to global fame with her portrayal of Agent Peggy Carter in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, as well as reprising the character in a leading role in the series Agent Carter. Atwell is also a well-known West End performer and period drama actor.

British actor Henry Cavill, best known for his role as Superman, is the most fancied male actor in the UK. He amassed over 11,000 sexy, hot, and calendar searches over the last 12 months. Cavill’s acting journey began in school during renditions of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and he is now playing the lead role of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher.

2. Tom Holland - 7,320 annual UK searches

English actor and dancer Tom Holland ranks as the UK's second most fancied male actor, with over 7,000 annual searches for sexy and hot results. Born in London, Holland's acting career took off when he became Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, in one of Marvel's most successful franchises. He debuted this role in Captain America: Civil War, going on to reprise the role as a lead in several subsequent films, including Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

3. Tom Hardy - 5,670 annual UK searches

Tom Hardy ranks as the third most fancied male actor in the UK, with 5,670 annual searches each. Tom Hardy’s glittering career spans multiple starring roles in huge blockbuster films such as Mad Max: Fury Road, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and The Revenant, appearances in 3 of Hollywood giant Christopher Nolan films (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, and Dunkirk), and performances on both British and American stages.

1. Sydney Sweeney - 813,610 annual USA searches

Sydney Sweeney, most known for her roles in the drama series Euphoria and comedy anthology series The White Lotus, is the most fancied female actor in the USA. Sweeney’s performance in Euphoria received much praise, earning her a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. Sweeney starred alongside Glen Powell in a surprisingly successful romantic comedy Anyone but You, in December 2023, cementing her ability to play romantic and comedic roles. More recently, Sweeney has played roles in Madame Web and Immaculate.

American actress Jennifer Lawrence is the USA's second most fancied female actor. Lawrence gained global fame for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games movies, and since won the Academy Award for Best Actress at just 23 years old for her role as Tiffany Maxwell in Silver Linings Playbook. In addition to being a celebrated actress, Jennifer Lawrence is known for advocating gender pay equality issues in Hollywood and beyond.

Scarlett Johansson is the USA’s third most fancied female actor, with just shy of half a million hot and sexy searches in the last year. Scarlett Johansson is perhaps most known for her portrayal of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She has reprised this role in a total of eight films, including playing the lead role in her own solo movie, Black Widow, in 2021. Johansson's films have grossed over $15.4 billion worldwide, making her the highest-grossing box office female star of all time.

Canadian-born Ryan Reynolds, well known for his distinctive blend of comedic and dramatic performances, ranks as the third most fancied actor in the USA. Reynolds's career has involved starring roles in romantic comedies like The Proposal and The Change Up, but his portrayal of Marvel’s Deadpool catapulted him to global fame. This film broke records and earned Reynolds a Golden Globe nomination in 2016.

2. Josh Hutcherson - 35,220 annual USA searches

Josh Hutcherson is the second most fancied male actor in the USA with over 35,000 hot and sexy searches. Hutcherson’s career took off when he landed the leading role of Peeta Mellark in the Hunger Games series, which ran from 2012 and 2015 and is one of the top-grossing film series out there. Most recently, he starred in the commercially successful horror film Five Nights at Freddy's.

3. Ryan Gosling - 26,900 annual USA searches

Another Canadian Ryan makes his way into the top 3 most fancied male actors in the USA. Ryan Gosling is well known for playing romantic roles in films such as the romantic musical La La Land, and romantic comedies Crazy, Stupid, Love, and Barbie. Gosling’s other mainstream successes are the action thriller Drive, action comedy The Nice Guys, and the acclaimed science fiction film Blade Runner 2049.

A list of over 1,000 male and female actors born in the UK and the USA was taken from Wikipedia and iMDB. For USA-born actors, Canadian-born actors were also included.
